From her press release:

MANCHESTER, ME – Pamela J. Boivin of Manchester will be running for the Maine House of Legislature District 83. Boivin currently works as a Legal Specialist at a domestic violence project, as an Adjunct Professor in Justice Studies at the University of Maine and as an Adjunct Professor in Behavioral Sciences at Kennebec Valley Community College.

Boivin considers herself an advocate, not a politician

“I believe that we have a moral obligation to take care of the most vulnerable in our society, from our children to our older population. If elected to the Maine State Legislature, I will advocate for the quality of life to improve for ALL Maine citizens.”

She has earned a Juris Doctor from the University Maine School of Law and is a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and former officer in the Maine Army National Guard. Boivin has done post-graduate work at the Bangor Theological Seminary and is currently in the dissertation phase of a Ph.D. in Criminal Psychology.

Boivin’s past professional experience has included working as a Guardian ad Litem in child protective cases, as a law enforcement officer and Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the Domestic Violence Prosecutor. Past and current boards that she has been a member of include: St. Mary’s Home and School Association, Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence, Maine Women’s Policy Center and Women Unlimited.

Boivin continued: “I will work to create equality in Maine. First with equality in taxes; we need to restore fairness to the Maine tax code. We need to move toward equal taxation; we can balance our state budget if Maine’s wealthiest 1% pays the same state and local tax rate as what the rest of us are currently paying. I will work to create equality in economic development and job creation. I will fight to help Maine workers and small business owners and I will work towards equality in providing health care options for men AND women of Maine.”
