Who Will Win Mitt Romney’s Veepstakes?

The Washington Post has come out with their Final Five list:

5. Chris Christie: “Remains very much in the mix as Romney’s pick. Quickly endorsed Romney and has been a willing and able surrogate ever since. And, Christie is the biggest national star in the Republican party at the moment.

4. Bobby Jindal: “The ‘historic’ pick of the Final Five as he would be the first Indian-American to be on either party’s national ticket. Has a deep resume that includes service in the U.S. House, a stint at the Department of Health and Human Services and now two terms as governor of Louisiana.”

3. Paul Ryan: “A safe and a bold choice by Romney- a known and liked commodity within the Republican party establishment and someone who has a proven track record of getting elected in a swing state. Choosing Ryan means embracing the Ryan budget with no possibility of turning back.”

2. Tim Pawlenty: “Romney prizes loyalty and TPaw is among the most loyal people in politics. After ending his own bid for the Republican presidential nomination, the former Minnesota governor became a do-anything, go-anywhere surrogate for Romney.”

1. Rob Portman: “The Ohio Senator continues to hold down the top spot on the Line because he ranks so highly in the area we know Romney value most: the ability to do the job. He also represents among the least risky picks, is from Ohio (the swing state Romney must have) and is a budget/spending expert.”

NPR agrees with Portman being the selection by Team Romney, citing the recent scrubbings of his Wiki page to be a strong indicator:

— Ohio Sen. Rob Portman’s Wiki page has been revised 16 times so far today, by someone called “River8009.”

— Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s Wiki page has been revised nine times so far today and 11 times from Aug. 2-6.

— Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s Wiki page has been tweaked four times today.

— Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan’s Wiki page has been edited once today, and 11 times from Aug. 2-6.

— Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s Wiki page hasn’t been edited today, but was revised eight times from Aug. 3-4.

— New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte’s Wiki page has not been touched today. It was last revised on July 28.

— New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s Wiki page hasn’t been revised since July 24.

Time will tell.
