From his press release:

BANGOR – John Schneck, a Democrat from Bangor, announced his candidacy for House District 16, which is entirely within the Bangor City limits, at the Maine Democratic Party Caucus on Sunday, February 26.

“Right now we need someone in Augusta who will stand up for Maine values and focus on helping the middle class and building a strong and fair economic future for this state,” said Schneck. “I am ready to be that person which is why I am running for House District 16.”

Schneck is a semi-retired businessman whose past experience includes a successful career in reinsurance, management of a small family pest control business, military service and even a stint as a local radio news anchor/reporter for the Zone Radio Corporation.

“Right now we need to put aside the partisan politics and focus on thoughtful solutions to the major issues facing this state – the failing economy, health care costs, jobs creation, education,” Schneck said. ”As a leader I am committed to putting my political ideology aside to find common sense solution to creating jobs, ending gridlock, and rebuilding our economy so that Maine workers, Maine businesses, and Maine children can successfully compete in the 21st century.”

Schneck is a supporter of workers’ rights and increased access to affordable healthcare. He understands that Maine’s problems are complicated with no black and white solutions and thinks hardworking Mainers deserve a State Government that’s committed to finding a path that leads to a more creative economy.

“In order to meet the challenges facing this state,” says Schneck “It’s important to increasingly support our educators and our educational institutions from pre-school through college including the re-training of the State’s Laid-off workers.”

Because of John’s strong commitment to reducing the corrupting influence of money in politics he is running as a clean election candidate and will be collecting signatures and $5.00 contributions from voters in his district.
