From his press release:

Robert Saucier has filed to be a candidate for the Maine House of Representatives in the 5th District in Presque Isle. Saucier was born in Aroostook County and has lived in Presque Isle for most of his life. He graduated from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute with an Associate of Applied Technology Degree with a major in Electrical Construction and Maintenance and graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology.

“I am concerned about the direction that our state is headed. I believe the majority of Presque Isle and Maine residents do not agree with the way that this Administration has been treating Maine people,” said Saucier. “If elected, I will represent the values of the working people of Presque Isle and the State of Maine and always look out for those most vulnerable in our society. Jobs and the economy are most important to the majority of people who desperately need help.”

Bob is married to the former Anna Marie Parker of Presque Isle, daughter of Philip and Connie Parker. Bob and Anna raised their four sons in Presque Isle, Philip, Eric, Ryan, and Denis. The couple hosted an exchange student for a year and were also therapeutic foster parents for several years.

Bob attends St. Mary’s Catholic Church and is a long time member of the Presque Isle Knights of Columbus Council #2524. He is a member of the National Rifle Association, of the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club, and is a past member of the Presque Isle Jaycees. He is currently a member of the Aroostook County Democratic Committee. He was also a longtime referee for many sports in Aroostook County schools. He has been a lifelong blood donor with the American Red Cross since joining the military. Bob and Anna have also long supported the Central Aroostook Humane Society.

Bob recently retired from the Social Security Administration in Presque Isle after 37 years of public service. His experience in public service began when he joined the Air Force right after high school, and he was stationed at Loring Air Force Base. After leaving active duty, he continued his military service by joining the Maine Army National Guard where he served for 24 years. Bob was commissioned by Congress as an Officer in the Maine Army National Guard and eventually rose to the rank of Captain, with assignments throughout Aroostook County including Executive Officer in Battery A in Presque Isle, Commander of Battery C in Fort Kent, and Headquarters Battery Commander in Caribou.

“My experience with the Social Security Administration and my knowledge of Social Security, Medicare, MaineCare and veteran’s issues will allow me to better serve the people of Presque Isle on issues of vital importance to people and small businesses throughout this State,” said Saucier.

In addition to his work in the public sector, Saucier has experience as a small business owner over the past 20 years. He has operated ABS Christmas Products selling wreaths and Christmas trees, is a licensed Maine real estate agent, and operates the Paddock Café at the Northern Maine Fairgrounds and The Paddy Wagon Concessions with his wife Anna at events around the County. Saucier noted “We know the difficulties that small businesses face with payroll, insurance requirements, and the high costs of fuel, electricity, and taxes.” Bob has been a hard worker all of his life, working multiple jobs to provide for his family and put his kids through college.

“I believe my life experiences, hard work, knowledge of social programs, and military leadership skills qualify me to represent the people of Presque Isle and the State of Maine as your legislator in Augusta. I hope to meet and discuss with as many Presque Isle residents as I can in the coming months,” said Saucier.
