Daniel Swain Announces HD 28 (Canaan, Cornville, Palymra, Hartland and St. Albans) Run
Daniel Swain, 24, of Canaan has announced he is running as a democratic candidate for state representative in District 28.
Swain grew up in Canaan and moved to Machias after high school to start college. He graduated from the University of Maine at Machias in 2010 with a degree in history and public administration. He currently works at a direct support professional with Spurwink Services.
“Nothing makes you appreciate the area you grow up until you spend time away,” he said in a prepared statement.
District 28 is composed of the town of Canaan, Cornville, Palymra, Hartland and St. Albans and is currently represented by Dean Cray.
“Ever since I went to the State House on a fourth-grade trip I’ve been involved in politics and government, everything from simply watching the news to working on campaigns. That interest has now evolved to the point that I want to run for the legislature to represent my home town area,” he said in a prepared statement.
