From her bio:

Sara’s commitment to public and volunteer service at the local community level has given her a deep appreciation for how decisions made in Augusta effect people and businesses in Freeport and Pownal.

In 2009, Sara was elected to the Freeport Town Council, where she represents the Freeport Village district as well as downtown businesses. She was re-elected in 2010, and currently serves as Vice Chairwoman of the Council.

Sara serves on the Board of Freeport Community Services, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing food, clothing and other benefits to people in need in the Towns of Freeport and Pownal. Sara has worked to raise money to support the construction and operation of the Freeport Community Center, a unique public space available to all members of the community.

Sara has also served on the Board of the Freeport Economic Development Corporation, where she worked to better understand the needs of local businesses and to encourage a positive, community-based approach to economic development.

Working with a diverse group of citizens and business leaders, Sara was instrumental in creating new playing fields for area residents and children, as well as new hiking and cross-country skiing trails.

As a member of the Town Council, Sara worked to bring a movie theater to downtown Freeport, and convinced developers to give back to the community through an annual charity event where ticket revenues will go to local organizations.

Sara is a regular classroom volunteer in the RSU 5 schools, where she also serves meals in the before-school breakfast program and coaches her son’s Odyssey of the Mind team.

Sara graduated from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she also worked as an intern for U.S. Senator Claiborne Pell, Democrat of Rhode Island.

Sara spent six years as an Advertising Account Executive for USA TODAY newspaper, where she was responsible for annual advertising sales of more than $10 million and a client list that included such diverse companies as American Express, Air France and Home Depot. In 2002, Sara was awarded the President’s Award for excellence in Sales.

A reminder: This is an open seat, as Rep. David Webster is termed out.
